The story generation struck me because this story tell what is happening in our society in the surroundings that we people usually neglect. In this story wherein the family of the girl was the so called Katiwala of the farm. one day the father went home late and drunk fought with the mother. so the father wnet out and unfortunately he was caught by the soldiers and was detained in the barracks. the mother asked the daughther to follow his father because he might be in danger. The daugther being the eldest followed her mom. So she went to follow her dad and reached the barracks. The rude soldiers told her that her father will be detained and not be released unless she can pay for it. She gave herself in order to let her father go. On the way home her brothers notice that there was something wrong or happened but the girl told them that she had learned something lastnight. and then she took a bath.
this story tells me and each of us how people when in times of difficulty especially those who can afford to pay money can result to giving their own lives. for us who doesn't live in the same setting like them we think that it is immoral and wrong but for them its neither moral and immoral is amoral. Because they will do everything in order to survive and toi live.

week 6 fantasy vs. reality
Do you know waht is fantasy. For me it is a world created to escape from the problems that is present in the reality. We humans create a fantasy so called world in order to twist what is happening in the real world. Fantasy is like a medicine which gives a some how cure on what we experience in our real life. Sometimes we girls, believe that in our relationship espcially in love experience we always find our mr. right or prince charming. When we wre young we always believed that in every love story in fairyales there is always happy ending. That your prince charming will always rescue you from the wicked witch. But then in the reality it is not real we just imagine things because we want those people we love act like them our knight and shinning armor. Like in the story the girl is describe to be obessive compulsive person. At his mid old age her life is routined it is already set and anything that has changed from what she is used too she became alienated to it. as if everything will be knew to her. As the story goes by, this woman created an illussion about this young boy who was a vocalist in the band from where she always goes. She describe him as peterpan in the story.a nice little boy who take her to the neverland. but when this boy approached her she was shocked from the fact that what she described from her imagination is the real opposite. The guy is "maangas" from then on she never went to the bar again. The stories theme is that it is okay to create a fanstasy but then dont let it swallow our mind from the real things that surrounds us.

week5
As our technology moves fast people adapt to change. There are many differences in our culture today before parents in the old age choose the spouse of their child this is called fixed marriage. The parents choose their spouses because of many reasons one of this is if both parents are rich and they want the husband or wife a rich person too for security purpose. this setting was very common before. But today as time goes by, parents become more understanding to their children in our generation.nowadays, children have more freedom in choosing what they want. We, the children of our genaration have many opportunities and opions to choose from. In path we want to take for our future goals parents are more supportive to their child today.
Another changes from one generation to another is how men and women start end establish a relationship. Before it is neccessarry that a man courts a woman first before having a realtionship. He must prove to the family that he is worthy to have the girl's hand. He will undergo different challenges that will prove how much effort and love he will exert to prove that he is worthy. But now on our generation the theme of courtship change and becamoe vague. Most of the men did not believe in courtship anymore. As long as they like each other they will be together. And sometimes in other cases women are to ones who court men. Because they say that it doesnt matter anymore who will do the first move. But for me with my bf. We started as friends before we end up together. We've been friends long enough to be able to see each others attitude. We didnt have any courtship as our basis it just happened.
Lastly, weeding and after weeding realtionship. Before aas i have mentioned earlier weddings are fixed. As young as a child they already set the spouse of their child. What is simmilar today and before is that the "pamamanhikan" is ubtil now relevant and still used in our society wherein the family of the the man will ask permission and ask the hand of the girl form her parents. The after wedding relationship is different from before. Women are usually housewives and doesnt interfere with any transactions or business his husband have. All she nust do is to ssaty in the house and take care of their children. But nowadays, women have the right to have a decent job even thogh thay are married. I think with this setting both husband and wife become more intact and together because they are helping each other to give the family a healthy living.

week 4 1040's-50's and current society and social relations
During 1940's and 1950's patriarchy is very important. What the man of the house says is very important. It is like and order or a command that should be done and obeyed. Being a man of the house is like a job that you should do and be perfect of. Because you are the back bone of the family. Parents are very strict on those days, specially on their daughters. Women those days have no freedom. sometimes the father or usually most of the time their father are the one who choose their husband. The fate of their daughter lies upon the father's decision. Women or the eldest daughter is bound to take care of her parents when they are old. this was their culture before. Luckily, during this present time. men and women are treated with balance. sometimes women can be the bread winner of the family if the man of the house can't give enough for the family. Although patriarchy is still visible now a days but there are changes. Our fathers now are open to opinion of their spouse and siblings. women today have a place in society where they can express what they wnat and what they feel. our president in our present time is a woman. this means that from time to time their interpretation for women's right and ability is wrong. women are not anymore trapped with choices that prevent them for expressing their freedom. In relating with the two stories it symbolizes that women before have this certain boundaries of choices and option and in the end they are still trap on it. Eventhough they escape from it and goes sideways still they will end up where they started. but now, women have more choices and resources that they can excel on what they are capable of.
week 3.. how do filipinos react on romance sex and love
i would say that filipinos now a days are very open when it comes to these matters. People used to be conservative but now a days people are more liberal. They usually say that these three comes together first is love then afterwards romance and lastly sex. People think that this is the cycle on how you can establish a relationship. I'm not saying that Filipinos became more aggressive now a days is just that as time goes by we filipinos adapt to what we so called change in culture and in the reality. That is why the essence of love and romance is misinterpreted because people associate it with sex. I feel so lonely that sometimes we people can't see what is love anymore. In the two stories of summer solstice and love in the corn husk. they interpret relationship with lust. women are sex object in the story in the stories.

mats and divide by two
i would say that i find the story the mats, more realistic in a sense that we filipinos are more sentimental when it comes to our families. In our life we cant control death. We must take into consideration that eventhough our family member died we should always remember them in our hearts like what the father in the story did. Eventhogh his other siblings died he still remembered them and even gave them mats to remind the family that they are still part of the family.
