week 4 1040's-50's and current society and social relations
During 1940's and 1950's patriarchy is very important. What the man of the house says is very important. It is like and order or a command that should be done and obeyed. Being a man of the house is like a job that you should do and be perfect of. Because you are the back bone of the family. Parents are very strict on those days, specially on their daughters. Women those days have no freedom. sometimes the father or usually most of the time their father are the one who choose their husband. The fate of their daughter lies upon the father's decision. Women or the eldest daughter is bound to take care of her parents when they are old. this was their culture before. Luckily, during this present time. men and women are treated with balance. sometimes women can be the bread winner of the family if the man of the house can't give enough for the family. Although patriarchy is still visible now a days but there are changes. Our fathers now are open to opinion of their spouse and siblings. women today have a place in society where they can express what they wnat and what they feel. our president in our present time is a woman. this means that from time to time their interpretation for women's right and ability is wrong. women are not anymore trapped with choices that prevent them for expressing their freedom. In relating with the two stories it symbolizes that women before have this certain boundaries of choices and option and in the end they are still trap on it. Eventhough they escape from it and goes sideways still they will end up where they started. but now, women have more choices and resources that they can excel on what they are capable of.

Quoted from your post:
"women today have a place in society where they can express what they want and what they feel"
I agree with this but not always. In the corporate world, some companies usually have male bosses and it will be very hard for females to dominate.
I wonder...Do you happen to know any cases of women actually being so dominant that they abuse their power? I can't site any example but there might be cases like this. There's just no balance in our society
